Hey everyone! It is confirmed that I will be at the Hobby Star Toronto Comic Con on November 30th!

It will be a perfect time for everyone to stock up on Christmas gifts. To help out I will be there with my sketchbooks, prints, original art, charms, and jewelry...and who knows if I have some spare time maybe some Christmas inspired stuff!!

I finished my summer convention season and I am on a convention break till the end of November. I have a number of products that I plan on selling online. I decided to first list them on my blogs and sites for all my watchers to have first dibs on any of my products they would like. I will be listing them on Ebay or Etsy in about 2-3 weeks. All listings would most likely end at the end of November.

Your Spirit Will Live On

I think by now most of you have heard that Michael Turner passed away this weekend. The sadness could be felt though out the convention in Chicago from all his friends and fans. Along with the sadness, the love for Mike could also be felt and so many came out to show how much they cared.

I only really got to know Mike these past three years, but I have always been a fan of his work. Every convention that Francis and I attended, I looked forward to spending time with Mike and everyone at Aspen. I remember three years ago I made a little evilrabbit statues which I gave to the guys at Aspen. Mike really loved his and he told me that he displayed it in his house, which made me really happy. Mike was also my number one sticker fan. Every convention when he saw me hanging out at Aspen he asked me if I made any new stickers and I made sure to never disappoint. He was such a sweet guy, always took the time to talk to me and catch up on things. He would never let you know anything was wrong. Always had a smile on his face. I am so happy that I got to call him a friend.

Mike's spirit will always live on in all of us. He was one of the most wonderful people I ever met and also one of the most talented.

His company Aspen Comics is also encouraging anyone wishing to do so to send a charitable donation big or small in Mike's name to The American Cancer Society or the Make-A-Wish Foundation

Mike, you will always be remembered!

Chicago Upate! New Items for sale!

Hey everyone,

I have been super busy lately and with Chicago this weekend my level of being busy just doubled. I am currently working on two projects in addition to getting some new items out for the convention season.

I mentioned before how I am working with Franco on a project. Its called Peach and the Isle of Monsters and I will have some original art with me at Chicago to promote the book since it is so close to being done now! I am also working on a children's book with an awesome local writer by the name of Howard Wong on a project called Polar Bear Princess. It is looking awesome! In addition to this I am trying to start on a super cute web comic...its coming along.

Now here is some Chicago news.

I love animals, and some of the animals I truly adore live in the arctic. Its really sad home the ice all these animals live on is melting and because of this their home is vanishing. That is why my boyfriend and I always try our best to help the environment the best we can. We are not perfect, but we try our best :) I think if everyone just tries to help it would make the world a better place.

Starbucks Goes To The Dogs

Here is a piece I did for a school project. It was a heading for a section in a magazine. I wanted to do a city piece and I focused in on Starbucks in Toronto, Ontario. The nice thing that Starbucks is going for dog owners is having a dog shaped stand right outside to tie your dog up when you go in. I thought this was wonderful because its always a problem tying my dog up places when I want to quickly run in and grab something. So here is my dog sharing a coffee with the doggy stand. I bet they are having a nice conversation.

Christmas, Commission, and Many Things to Do!

I must start by saying this...where the heck has this year gone?? Christmas is now a month away! That is nuts. Another year older I will become. This will also be Otis' first Christmas, where the pup will get lots of toys and treats. Francis' also gave our home a little Christmas treat.....we got a nice Christmas tree! This is our first real tree, well the tree is fake, but last year we had a little mini tree. Not this year! Its a nice big tree that we are making all pretty. I will post pictures once its all finished being decorated.

Now I have been getting emails about commissions as Christmas gifts, for yourself or for others. If you are interested in getting a commission before Christmas please email me soon since the list is starting to get filled up.

In other news,

My site will most likely go down for a day or two around the Christmas holidays. I am planning a site change. After the new layout is up and running if anyone finds any broken links, please email me since I will be deleting a lot of images and I want to make sure I don't delete anything I need...or wrong links.

Also, the two projects I'm working on are trucking along. I am still not sure of any release dates, but it will be some time next year. I'm really excited to have more published work out there! Till the day that they are out on the shelves I'm enjoying working on them very much. Also I will be going more information in the future on what I'm working on, once they are closer to completion.

One book finished, another starting, and commissions!

Soooo.... Book 1 of Black Bastard is now finished! It should be out some time next year and now I have 3 more books to go :) All I have to say about book 1 is that it was a wonderful roller coaster ride!! When the book is out I recommend everyone pick it up! I will also find out if I can post a few more sneak peaks of the book.

In other news I am working on another book slowly as well. This one is in my mini style and an all ages book. I will make sure to post more information as I get more of the book done. All I have to say is that this book is so much fun and so awesome! I'm a fan of the writer and working with him is just wonderful! So stay tuned for more information about that as well.

In addition to all this interesting news, I have some new commissions to show off! These ones were extra special to work on because not only are they are a friend, but they are for my friend's new baby room!! I was totally stoked working on these pieces and I love how they came out!

My Horrible Dell Story

Now I never thought of Dell as a bad company before or anything. Sure I will admit their shipping can take a little long, since when I ordered my computer from them it took about two or so weeks. But I thought nothing of it...at least not till now.

Since my laptop finally gave died on me in July I decided it was about time I got a new one. Around July 9th or 10th I went on the Dell website and placed an order for a lovely 2gig ram green laptop. I was totally excited! The order was processed by July 11th and I was expected to get my laptop by July 30th. Now I knew the wait was a little long, but hell, for a good quality laptop why not wait.

I headed off to San Diego and got back July 30th. All excited I called my mom (This was where the laptop was to ship since I did not want to miss it in all my traveling) and I was sad to find out my laptop never arrived. I decided to wait till the next day to see if it may just be late and if not I would give Dell a call.

So the next day rolls around and no laptop. Of course I began to worry and with that I gave Dell a call. I got a woman on the phone and I told her how my laptop did not arrive. She looked into it and at first she said it was back ordered, which surprised me. Since when I placed the order in the first place it was still in stock. I told her to look into it again. Then she said Oh wait, its not in back order after all. At this point I was really getting confused on what was going on. She went ahead to tell me that "She did not know what was happening with my laptop" After being put on hold one more time she goes ahead to tell me that yes, it really is in back order and they have to order it from Kentucky or some place like that and it would not arrive till mid August!! I went ahead to tell her this was unacceptable. I was never informed of any delays, I was never informed of any backorder, I just sat there like a moron waiting for my laptop to come in. She said there was going to be an email sent out to explain this situation (And A note that to date I never got this email). Now to also inform you I was being put on and off hold for a good 15 or more minutes while she phoned around trying to figure out what was happening with my laptop. How well organized... I guess my saying its unexceptable comment got to her, because she started to tell me how its back to school and yadda yadda yadda. But a good business would know what if you have promotions on the web and on tv you have to be ready for a very possitive reponse. Saying you did not expect this to happen is just silly. And to top off our conversation she said to get more information I would have to talk to a different department for more straight answers, she was just plain old customer support, and everyone knows that customer support and internet order customer support are two different things. Thanks a lot,she could have told me this at the beginning and I would not have to waste what was getting close to half an hour or her rambling and confusion.

Finally she was kind enough to connect me to the right department and I talked to a genteman named Harry. I explained my situation and at first he seemed understanding. I told him I was not willing to wait till mid August for my laptop since I was never informated of any delays and I was not being treated properly. I went ahead to telling him that if I did not have my laptop by August 8th I would call one more time and if that call it was to cancel my order. He told me not to worry, he said "Don't worry don't worry. I will make sure you have it by then!" I was pleased. He was the one taking care of my order and he assured me I would have my laptop, sounds like everything was going to be okay. August 8th was acutally the day before I was to head off to Chicago and no laptop to be seen. I thought since it was the long weekend that week and monday was a holiday I would just give them time. I was about to leave for Chicago and no need my laptop anyways.

So I return home from Chicago on monday. And guess what...NO LAPTOP! Boy, I sure was not surprised. I decited to give Dell another call. I reached Harry again and he asked how I got his extention. I was a little surprised and I told him he gave it to me. Then I asked about my laptop. And here is the kicker...THEY CANCELED IT WITHOUT MY SAY SO!!!!!! No email, no phone call, no nothing. Was I upset? OH YA I WAS! I just asked for the manager. Guess what!? I got the voice mail, once again I was not surprised.

So here I am, waiting for a call from the manager. Or more like about to place another call to the manager. I want to explain my situation to make sure it does not happen to anyone else. The service I recived has been the most unorganized and unpleasuent to date.

Would I recomment Dell to any of my friends or family? NOPE!
Would I say that you recomment Dell to any of your friends or family? NOPE!

Who knows it could be someone you know that something like this happens to next. I just rather prevent it before it happens, or finally have Dell learn how to run their company and how to treat their customers properly.

In the end, I guess Apple just got a new customer.

On a side note, I know for sure there are spelling errors in this and I'm sorry for that ahead of time :)

Now I myself never got the pleasure to meet Mike in person, but I was always a fan of his art. I know how much he ment to my boyfriend and the whole comic community. He was a great artist and a great man. He will be greatly missed.

Here are some pieces I remembered to take pictures of that I did in Chicago. I had a blast being kept drawing at my table. Gave me a chance to meet many cool people who came by to look at my work and say hello!! Most of these are commissions and others are gifts for some wonderful friends :)

This was the first convention I started to use a textured brown paper. I found it by mistake at my place because the paper was left over from prints. I tried it out and I loved the look so I tried it out for the convention. It became a hit!

Back Home From Chicago

So this morning we got back home from Chicago and I think Francis and I spent almost the whole day sleeping. Even though I did get some sleep in the car, I was totally fried today.

So now Chicago...it was a blast. I got a chance to meet lots of new people and get to know new friends. I spent almost the whole convention at my table busy with commissions and what not, but on Sunday we closed down shop early to spend the rest of the con walking around. But...I could not find anything cool to busy, except a few patches for my bag.

I did manage to get a few pictures, but not many. Here are the pictures that I was able to get.

This is a picture of my drawing table at home. As you can see I have two cards displaying artwork by Art Baltazar. I had the pleasure of meeting Art Baltazar and Franco (Who have their totally cool book Patrick the Wolf Boy that I could not put down once I got a copy of it) and now are working on something for the new DC kids line! They are working on Tiny Titans and I can't wait to pick it up when it comes out around January! They were only a few of the wonderful people I got to meet on my trip to Chicago and I really hope I can keep in contact with them.

With my friend Adrian from Runaways right beside me it attacked a nice crowd for his work. In that crowd we even found the Runaways themselves! So cool...

Cbei and Heather in their awesome costumes!! They were so sweet at the con and visited me at my table many times with Jester. Thanks a lot for keeping me company guys! You totally rock :)

Me and Liana who is dressed up as Power Girl. And man can she pull of that costume!! She was dressed up as Batgirl durning as well. I must say that she has some of the coolest costumes I have ever seen.

Cottage Con

This sunday I drove north of Toronto to Jacksons Point to attend a one day paradise comic convention. This convention was taking place away from the city in a small town,so it was a nice change. Also had beaches every where. My dog Otis came with us hoping to take a nice swim in the water....but all the beaches were listed as no dogs allowed. So that sucked and Otis was sad. At least he was able to spend the whole day with me!

Here are some commissions I did at the con. The first commssion shown here was the biggest one I ever did to date. So many characters! But it was a blast to draw :)

San Diego Day 2

So here are pictures of day 2 of san diego. Francis and I really did not spend much time at the con itself because he was playing in the DC vs Marvel baseball game and after that we had dinner.

More hanging out. This time we have Jann Jones! She was one of the many people I got a chance to meet at the con and not to mention one of the best people to talk too as well. She won me over with her cool TokiDoki bag :)

And the game is over...DC lost once again :( But there is always next year! I know I enjoyed the game. Fun to watch and I had Jann to talk to almost the whole time so I was kept busy :)

San Diego Day 1

I'm finally back home from San Diego and it was an awesome trip. I had the chance to see some friends that I only get to see during cons and I had the pleasure of meeting a lot of new people.

Since I'm getting around to it, here are some pictures from day 1 of my trip to San Diego!

Francis and I arrived with Joel before preview night was open to the public to catch up with the guys at Aspen

Then we headed over to the artist alley where Joel was seated with the WildStorm guys. Here we see Alex, Oliver, Carlos chatting away

After a short visit at the con, Joel, Francis and I grabbed a bit to eat...and then headed over to the WildStorm studio to catch up on some last minute work. So here are some pictures from our visit there

Sexy Mini Commissions

I finished off some Mini Commissions today that I'm going to send all the way to Germany tomorrow!! I think that is totally cool :) I hope the person I did these for really likes them because I know I like them a lot!! They turned out so great and I have not done minis of any of these characters yet...believe it or not!

After Paradise Convention and My Book

As I posted in my past post I am getting published and now I can say more about it! A few of you who attend comic conventions might have heard of my friend Matthew, better known as the Black Bastard. After a few talks, I am the next artist on his new 4 issue mini series!! Thats right, a whole 4 issues. We are aiming to have a preview book out for San Diego so stay tuned! Once I can post a few pages of the book I will make sure to do it so everyone can check it out!!

Paradise is now over and wow I was commission busy this weekend! This was actually the first time I had to start a commission list and boy was I surprised about that! I also ended up leaving early on Sunday for Woofstock (you can find pictures from this under Otis-Ville). So over all I had a wonderful weekend. Thank you to everyone who came out to the con and big thanks to everyone who came by my table to say hey! A lot of familar faces came by :)

New Print - Flow

Paradise convention is coming up this weekend and I'm really excited to have a new print out for it. And here it is! This is an 11x17 size print. There will be another mini print for this convention as well that I should be posting by tomorrow night that will be a Paradise exclusive. So stay tuned

I just finished a T-Shirt design for BB's (BlackBastard)'s new T-shirt that may be out for the Paradise convention, maybe even San Diego but i'm not sure. I think it may be listed on his site:

Other news, I can't say anything about it yet....but I can say this. I just agreed with a small indy company to work on their comic! Once I can give more news about it I will. Right now I will be penciling their first book...but it most likely will end up being me penciling the rest of the mini series. I am super excited about it!! So I hope everyone will be tooo.

Here is another piece done in Illustrator!! I am totally loving Alberto Ruiz' book! I don't think I would be able to do all of this in illustrator if I did not have his book open with his tutorials helping me along the way. If your wondering what book I keep talking about its: Confessions of a Process Junkie Illustration Techniques for Adobe Illustrator #6. When I get a chance and some spare money I would love to have more of his books. Not only do I love his art work, his tutorials are awesome and easy!

Anywho, back to this piece...I really hope everyone enjoys it! I know I do. I can't wait till I get a better hang of Illustrator so I can get these pieces done faster.

The good news is, I am a bout to start layouts for another piece...heres a hint. It most likely will be a print!

Digital Beauty!

How long has it been since I last did a digital image? I'm not even sure! After Calgary I have been really geared to work on something digital. After meeting Alberto Ruiz and getting a chance to get a book from him, I was even more excited to learn more and try my hand on digital again. His book gives great Illustrator tips that helped me a lot!

So here it is...a digital cutie!

Toronto ComiCon Fun!

Back in April Francis and I attended a ComicCon for HobbyStar on April 13th to 15th. I was able to snag some photos of a few commissions I did and some photos of the convention itself. It was a really fun convention, but it did get really slow on Sunday. That just gave me more time to chat away and take photos.

I should be working right now...on sequentials or on homework. But instead...I did this. I just had the idea in my head and I could not get rid of it till I did it. I really like how it turned out coloured.

Finally...a recent drawing that is not a sketch! I'm super proud of myself now! I am trying to work on some sequentials in my spare time and I warmed up today with this drawing. I am a huge Kill Bill fan, so I could not help myself when this idea came to mind. I really love working with my prisma markers and after doing so many mini super hero commissions, I think for commissions that I can take longer on I might do them nicely coloured or in gray scale because I enjoy it so much. Plus, the look is totally awesome! :D

Oh conventions! What fun! This was actually the first convention ever I had to make a commission list while at the con!! I was so surprised, but I loved it! I'm so happy that people out there like my work enough for me to have to make a list hehehe. It was the coolest thing ever. The con on Sunday was totally great! Such wonderful people came out to play and stopped by my table for a nice hello. It was funny two because I think I only left my table 4 times....two times to look for reference...and two times to go to the washroom. Other than that I don't think I had time to do anything else.

Two nice people from the convention already emailed me two of the commissions I did for them. The other two images (the second thor and vampirella) are from previous conventions.

And for those of you who came out on Sunday it was wonderful meeting you and if I met you before it was wonderful seeing you again!! :)
